About Me

hannah1Hi, I’m Hannah King and I’m passionate about food. I think that food should make you feel good. Ideally, creating and eating food, should be a positive social experience, a way to provide healthy energy for our bodies, and a satisfying to our senses. Additionally, I feel strongly that a truly good meal is one that was not created through harming sentient life. I believe that doing our best to be responsible about where our food comes from will benefit ourselves, animals, and the planet.

In the past, I went through a phase of extreme dieting, in which I tried a variety of different fad diets. I limited my caloric intake and various nutrients. I ended up not only feeling deprived, but also feeling worse and worse about myself. Since then, I’ve changed my focus from calories and fat levels to consuming healthy, whole foods. I also learned to appreciate my body through yoga and began caring more about nurturing my health than looking like someone else. I’m happy to report that I no longer feel deprived, and overall, I just feel really good about what I’m eating and the way I’m living my life.

My goal with this blog is both to have a personal space to store my recipe ideas, and also to provide guidance to anyone who is interested in healthy, compassionate eating. I don’t claim to be the expert on veganism or the world’s most ethical person. The vegan police have most likely come after me a time or two. I started this blog after a friend had the idea to try eating vegan on Fridays and kept asking me for recipes. You see, that’s who this blog is for—for people from all walks of life who want a little help going vegan, even if it’s just on Friday.
